                      Services

Family Planning
A comprehensive service is available by appointment with the doctors or practice nurses. The fitting of coils is done by special arrangement - please enquire. The 'morning after' pill is available by appointment with a doctor, and if required, this should be made clear to the reception team, to ensure a same day appointment.

Cervical Smears
We advise all women aged 25-65 to have regular smear tests, by appointment with the practice nurse or a doctor.

Minor Surgery
We carry out, by appointment with a doctor, various procedures including cryotherapy treatment.

Vaccinations & Immunisations
We recommend that your children are fully immunised against all the childhood diseases. Children's vaccinations are by appointment on Thursday afternoons with the Health Visitors. For routine or travel purposes, an appointment should be made with a practice nurse. We are a registered Yellow Fever Centre, and can vaccinate travellers irrespective of whether they are registered with our practice. We also provide full travel health advice especially regarding prevention of malaria infection.

Health Checks
These are available by appointment with a nurse or health care assistant:

  • All newly registered patients
  • Any patient needing advice or help with weight reduction, alcohol and smoking
  • Any patients with a positive family history of heart disease or stroke

Child Health Surveillance
The doctors and health visitors carry out checks on Wednesday mornings.

Maternity Services
The midwife, doctors and health visitors provide maternity services on Wednesday mornings. On confirmation of pregnancy you will be provided with information on how the services will proceed. We do not offer intra partum care.

The Clinical Healthcare Team Doctors
Five doctors run the practice in partnership.. Three are full time and two are part time.

Practice Nurses
We have 3 part time nurses who carry out health promotion, and run their own clinics for smears, asthma, diabetes and coronary heart disease. They also give advice on family planning and travel health.

Health Care Assistant
We have a part time HCA whose job encompasses taking blood pressure readings, blood tests, urine tests, assisting with coronary heart disease checks and new registration medical checks.

Phlebotomists
Our part time phlebotomist takes blood samples as required by the doctors and nurses.

Health Visitors
The health visitor can be contacted by leaving a message at the surgery.

District Nursing Team
Patients who need to use this service should telephone the district nurses direct on
01253 657227. The district nurses can only provide home nursing services to the physically housebound, the chronically sick, and patients recovering from operations.
