Our
name
Our new premises are to be named Ansdell Medical Centre. This is the
reason we have chosen to name our website www.ansdellmedicalcentre.co.uk.
Our practice boundary
The Borough of Lytham St. Annes and the FY8 postcode determine our boundary.
Test Results
If you have been asked to contact the surgery for some results, please
ring in the afternoon. We are very busy in the mornings with requests
for advice, appointments and visits etc, and it would help to spread
the workload.
Changes to your personal details
Please inform us straightaway if you change your name, address, telephone
number etc, as this information is important to us.
Zero Tolerance to Aggression and Violence
The practice has a policy of not accepting any behaviour from a patient
that is deemed to be aggressive, threatening or violent. We have a duty
of care to the doctors and staff who work for us. The Police will be
called without hesitation if it is felt necessary. The patient concerned
will be removed from the practice list if the offence is considered
serious enough.
Annual
Flu vaccinations
Flu kills many people worldwide every year. Each year commencing late
September/early October our flu campaign begins. We recommend that all
patients aged over 65 have this annual vaccination as a routine measure.
Anyone who has a medical history of heart disease, asthma, diabetes,
or other chest problem should also have the vaccination every year.
In our practice we vaccinate over 2400 patients each autumn, which helps
to reduce the number of patients admitted to hospital with complications
following flu infection. When ringing for an appointment for the
flu clinics, please ring in the afternoon.
Automated
Blood Pressure checks
We
have purchased an automatic Blood Pressure machine so that our patients
can check their blood pressure when they come to the surgery, either for
an appointment or on an ad hoc basis. Please take the printed slip
in to your appointment with the doctor or nurse or give it to the
receptionist who will ensure that it is entered on your records.
The machine is situated next to the reception desk.
Pneumonia
vaccinations
This is another vaccination which we strongly recommend to the over
65s and those with respiratory, heart or diabetes conditions. It cannot
prevent all infection from pneumonia but it prevents infection from
26 different types. This vaccination is given only once - it is not
an annual vaccination. Pneumovax is available all the year round by
making an appointment with the practice nurse. In the cases of flu and
pneumonia - prevention is better than cure every time.
