Family Planning

pregnant11A comprehensive service is available by appointment with the doctors or practice nurses. The fitting of coils is done by special arrangement - please enquire. The 'morning after' pill is available by appointment with a doctor, and if required, this should be made clear to the reception team, to ensure a same day appointment.

Automated Blood Pressure checks

We have an automatic Blood Pressure machine so that our patients can check their blood pressure when they come to the surgery, either for an appointment or on an ad hoc basis.  Please take the printed slip in to your appointment with the doctor or nurse or give it to the receptionist who will ensure that it is entered on your records.  The machine is situated next to the reception desk.

If you have been rushing or feel breathless when you arrive, please sit down for a few minutes before using the machine. It is important to follow the instructions, as for instance the correct positioning of your arm in the machine is necessary for an accurate reading to be achieved.

Cervical Smears

We advise all women aged 25-65 to have regular smear tests, by appointment with the practice nurse or a doctor.

Minor Surgery

We carry out various procedures by appointment with a doctor.

Vaccinations & Immunisations

We recommend that your children are fully immunised against all the childhood diseases. Children's vaccinations are by appointment on Thursday afternoons with the Health Visitors.

For routine purposes, an appointment should be made with a practice nurse.

For travel purposes you need to complete a travel vaccination form and when the nurse has checked your requirements you will be asked to make an appointment with her. We are a registered Yellow Fever Centre, and can vaccinate travellers irrespective of whether they are registered with our practice. We also provide full travel health advice especially regarding prevention of malaria infection. 

The form can be collected from the reception desk or you can complete it online using this website. 

Health Checks

These are available by appointment with a nurse or health care assistant:

  • Any patient needing advice or help with weight reduction, alcohol and smoking.
  • Any patients with a positive family history of heart disease or stroke.

Child Health Surveillance

The doctors and health visitors carry out checks on Wednesday mornings.

Maternity Services

The midwife, doctors and health visitors provide maternity services on Wednesday mornings. On confirmation of pregnancy you will be provided with information on how the services will proceed. We do not offer intra partum care.

The Clinical Healthcare Team doctors

Six doctors run the practice in partnership. Three are full time and three are part time.

Practice nurses

We have 2 part time nurses who carry out health promotion, and run their own clinics for smears, asthma, diabetes and coronary heart disease. They also give advice on family planning and travel health.

Health Care Assistant

We have a part time HCA whose job encompasses taking blood pressure readings, blood tests, urine tests, assisting with coronary heart disease checks.

Phlebotomists

Our two part time phlebotomists takes blood samples as required by the doctors and nurses. 

Health Visitors

The health visitor can be contacted on 01253 953920, or by leaving a message at the surgery. She is based at St Annes Primary Care Centre on Durham Avenue, St Annes.

District Nursing Team

Patients who need to use this service should telephone the district nurses direct on 01253 657227.  They are based at Lytham Primary Care Centre. The district nurses can only provide home nursing services to the physically housebound, the chronically sick, the terminally ill and patients recovering from operations.

Counselling Service

Access to this service is by prior consultation and referral from your doctor.
